Just watched the newly released Signs DVD and was VERY pleased with the surround sound on it! The surrounds were very well used especially during the parts where...

That is good to hear. I was looking forward to this having DTS, but if it is a good 5.1, that is close enough for me!

Now if we could only change that cover!

Excellent 5.1 sound with mediocre picture. For a Vista Series release of a new film the image quality is disappointing.

This seems to be one of those films where you either hate it or reallt enjoy it! I myself rather enjoyed it myself.

Why no slip case this time? It Kind of throws off the Vista set (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs).......

Thought the movie was the worst of the 3 films. Do not watch this film expecting a shocking ending like 6th Sense and Unbreakable had. Otherwise you would probably be disapointed like I was. Everything was great from the beginning to 15 mins before the ending. Just felt like I was built up and didnt get the payoff. Video quality is very pixelated. Sound is great. Did good job not revealing to much but instead letting your own fears take over with the sound.

Please rent before buying.

Same here, it was actually quite bad... the walls were shimmering from the compression artefacts. Distracted me a lot anyway.

Hmmm. I didn't see any of the problems you are encountering. In fact the video for me was pretty good. I am curious... those of you that are having video problems, are you watching it interlaced or progressive and is it with a 16x9 HDTV or 4x3 analog? I know there are some DVD's that do not downconvert very well and maybe this is the problem. Also what DVD players are you using. I am using a Panasonic RP91 myself.

Was watching it on my PC with PowerDVD, normally all but the non-anamorphic or DVD-5 based discs produce results like I saw on Signs... haven't tried it on my DVD player... it's weird, all the big really well known review sites seem to be saying how good the transfer is whilst the other popular but less well known ones say the opposite... could it be because my one will have probably been a Canadian region 1 (since the retailer is in Canada)?

One of the worst video transfers in a long time. I have a panasonic 110 and and a 27 inch panasonic tv using the s video. Audio is really good though.

I viewed Signs with my Progressive scan Panny RP82....Pioneer Widescreen.....and also thought the picture was bad in parts. So bad that in the beginning(the worst part in my opinion) I checked to make sure I had my settings correct in relation to the player. I had been watching an non-anamorphic disc and was not sure if I had switched my settings back and I had already.

Great flick...great what if scenario.
