I would highly recommend the book of the same name. It is fairly short and an extremely fast read. Also look into a couple of other accounts of that same expedition as some of the people mentioned in the Into Thin Air book were upset with the way everything was portrayed.

I didn't put very much stock in those complaints until I read the book again while keeping in mind some of the things they said. It makes you very skeptical about some of the details that Krakauer puts in to make he and his team look better.

The movie is sub-par at best. It has that "made for TV" feel. A lack of budget made for a below average production. Interesting to watch on the Discovery Channel or something, but I wouldn't recommend spending money on it.
