Difference between "2001" 25th Anniv. and "2001" Restored

I would like to purchase a copy of Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" but am confused about the two editions out there? Is there and difference in the box cover artwork? Any difference in the quality of the two? Differences in add ons?

If I'm not mistaken, the restored edition does not have the the little Arthur C. Clarke press conference of the first WB issue.

I actually lucked out and got a copy of that version with the dialogue intact. I emailed various DVD websites but was promptly ignored.

That is correct. They dropped it from the remaster for some reason.

(It's pretty boring though IMHO. Definitely a one time watch)

Maybe, but you see, I'm a geek :)

I have a Taco Bell cup on my desk here, a Nine Inch Nails CD playing, and to my left is my reference library of Star Wars and Star Trek tech manuals and RPG sourcebooks (and I don't even play the RPGs)

Thus, things like the Clarke piece are worthwhile to me :)

Thank you people for the replies. I purchased the Warnere re-release and it is outstanding quality.
