Review wanted: Ocean's 11 (1960)

Wondering if anyone can provide a review of this dvd (plot, pacing etc). Is is worth getting?

I know a lot of people claim it doesn't stand up to the remake but for some reason, I've started to get caught up with the "coolness" of the Rat Pack (even bought a Sinatra CD!!!).

Thanks!!!

Can't comment on the DVD, but I can on the movie. I liked this movie. I Know it gets a lot of flack for not being good, but I disagree. I really enjoyed it. Don't expect it to be much like the remake however. Aside from a basic plot point (robbing casinos), the two movies are nothing alike. I enjoyed the remake quite a bit, but something has to be said for the original, in all its Rat Pack glory.

I would recommend the movie, though, like I would do for EVERY movie ever made, rent it before you buy it, just to be sure.

Really boring movie that's extremely overrated.. Maybe it's me but I can't really get into the misogynist "gang" here and particularly poor Sammy Davis Jr. acting like Steppin Fetchit. Has a few good moments but this is one of those cases where I think the remake's a lot better than the original (of course in 40 years we may look back at Soderbergh's movie being as dated as the original seems now). I definitely wouldn't buy this sight unseen.
