If you have kids it's no contest - you must own this one. Our kids and all their friends at school (my wife works there so she's got the pulse of these kids) love this one.
If you don't have kids, well, you probably still should own it. The picture is gorgeous. The plot is average but still enjoyable. There are many extras. We are very happy to have this one in our collection... -exConn |
Get it. You won't be sorry.

Buy it, you will like it.
You will watch many times over the next year. Some cool features to watch. |
Top selling DvD of ALL-Time!
Enough said! |

I am a 33 year old single guy that does not like animation and has seen this movie over a dozen times.
This dvd has the best video quality I have seen in a animation. Recommended by me!! Al. |
I love most animated movies including, Aladdin, The Lion King, Ants, The Iron Giant and anything by Pixar, but Shrek is the best-animated movie I have ever seen. I love Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and John Lithgow and their characters. You get two copies of the movie, one in full-screen and one in Wide-screen and Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS! The extras in the DVD’s are awesome too; the music video and character interviews are great.

Fun movie. Excellent DVD..great picture and sound. Tons of extras though mostly kid oriented stuff. However, I must say the "Dress the Gingerbread man" thing is a riot..especially after a few beers.

if you love cliches, poor dialogue, the worst music ever heard in an animated film, the most annoying eddie murphy ever recorded, uninspired plot, piss-poor ending, then yes this a good one.

Originally posted by LX98Civic 1 in a million!! Got to be!! Everyone loves Shrek! No offense! Absolutely not true. Everyone does not love "Shrek". As you can see in many a thread on this very site. I was only lurking here when I saw your remark and had to point that out. Sorry, I don't mean to poop on the discussion because I'm glad you folks like the movie. But there are plenty of people who don't feel the same as you. Like me. My sentiments also echo Smogs. I'll take Pixar and Disney over Dreamworks any day. |
I thought it was hilarious and sweet at the same time. I saw it twice and am definitely going to buy it.

Eddie Murphy: So what was Raw? ending: non sterotypical, or was it the singing animals that disturbed you? Hate Dreamworks that much? |
skuehl34, I answer you now and forever:
cliches: wasn't that part of the "humor"? (Not for me) poor dialogue: were you expecting an Oscar caliber script? (nO just some originality) music: hate Smashmouth that much huh? (Positively) Eddie Murphy: So what was Raw? (Annoying reprise of Mulan role, incredibly tired and cliched) ending: non sterotypical, or was it the singing animals that disturbed you? (No not at all, cop out ending and you know it) I have enjoyed many projects from Dreamworks just not this one. By the by, my nine year old daughter disliked this film as well. My 18 year old son positively hated it. My x-wife loved it. |

Incredibly hyped, and still just a good movie. Sort of immature with the countless Disney bashing, but kids will love this one. And it's even easy to sit through for adults.
The DVD is amazing...some fantastic features |

my nine year old daughter disliked this film as well. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No offense, but something is definitely wrong with that statement! LX98Civic: I am deeply offended. Do you really believe that all the children of America enjoy this movie? She does love: Mary Poppins, Mulan, Harry Potter, riding horses, swimming, playing with dolls, reading books and being with her friends etc. Brrrrrrrr, there's a chill in here. You could not have implied anything more chilling or disturbing. I am proud that my daughter has her own mind. She is not easily lead by others likes or dislikes. It is subjective. What you like or dislike could not and does not have any merit, bearing or influence in my life. I did not imply that anything was wrong or amiss with you or your opinions. For you to make a statement such as the above scares me. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I think. |
Absolutely worth it!
You get 2DVDs packed with great features for a low price...what else could you ask for! |

Jesus, calm down skuehl34. What, do you own stock in this movie or something? I prefer Pixar/Disney because: 1) The animation is so much better 2) So are the scripts And if you really want to get down to it 3) I'm sick of that whole Katzenberg/Eisner feud. Katzenberg really does need to just let it go. And that Smashmouth song, never get tired of that! -rolleyes- |
shrek or pixar
I actually like both companies and I do think that they should'nt be at odds with each other all the time.
I have liked Disney for a long time, but I would like to see more animations that are geared for the adult as much as the children. Toy story and Bugs life is as much Disney as I can watch, although I have the Snow White one. Al. |
