what's your opinion on this disc?

(just don't rant about it not being anamorphic)

What a great disc!

This film is a perfect little gem. The dvd sports a host of great supplements including: deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes,
storyboard-to-film comparison, character designs, audio commentary, Tim Burton's two early films and so much more.

The audio is presented in both DD and DTS. The DTS track is simply outstanding! As for the picture not being anamorphic,
I have no complaints with the transfer. I've played the disc over a 53-inch HDtv and found the picture to be both warm and bursting with detail.

If you're a fan of the film rush out and pick this one up!
This is a stellar presentation of a wonderful film.

It's definately a great non-anamorphic transfer and a must for any fans of the film!

This is one of my favorite movies. The picture is almost 3-D in some places, sound great (Can you tell I'm bias) really shows off the differnce between video and DVD. I had gotten the first release of this film was a gift when I got my player and bought the SE, hoping iy had a good documentary (whichit did) So its worth getting..and yes, the actual film and music is great. Even if your not a fan of Tim Burton, you'll like this film.

It's an excellent little set: fine non-anamorphic image, solid sound, and great extras. It made my top ten for 2000. Here's a link to my full review:

thanks guys.

i wanted to buy this film a year ago when it was released but then i heard it wasn't anamorphic and i have this rule that i don't buy non-anamorphic films no matter what and i only just recently realized it's OAR is 1.66:1 which doesn't really "require" anamorphic enhancement.. doh! i always figured it had a "regular" OAR (i've only seen it p+s on VHS/tv before) so now i must rush to pick up this wonderful little flick! thanks again!

by the way, i have a question.

on the front cover, is the gate/frame that is yellow in pictures reflective "gold"? i saw a scan of it over at dvdempire.com and then it was barely visible as if it was in reflective "gold" rather than just regular yellow.

Yep. It's a shiny metallic gold.

Absolutely. Frankenweenie is great too, but the Burton should have used a weiner dog.
