Review Wanted: Pi

I'm in the process of purchasing this one. It sounds like a fascinating story. Anyone?

Pi is nothing short of a visual mental assault. Aronofsky uses camera work as a weapon, and made one of my favorite films. By the end of the film you feel almost as unbalenced as the main character. Great script, that makes the most of the plot. I loved every aspect of Pi, and have no problem recommending it to anyone.

Great movie. The DVD (often $9.99) has quite a good selection of extras considering the price. Two commentary tracks, deleted scenes, music video, etc. I highly recommend it.

Pi is one of the rare movies that after watching for the first time, i immediatley rewatched with commentary. For $9.99 you couldn't buy a better movie... IMO.

I loved Requiem, and am thinking of buying Pi unseen. Is it worth it? How long is the film, and does it have any re-watchability?

Absolutely, 85 min, and yes.

I didn't like Requiem, thought Pi was okay. Requiem looks better since it had the bigger budget, but I found its message humdrum. Pi has a lot of interesting ideas and starts out quite promising, but falls apart towards the end. Aronofsky doesn't know quite how to get his protagonist out of the paranoid maze he's built, so things peter out and in some cases get silly - the bits with the Wall Street traders are pretty contrived.

In some ways Pi is like The Blair Witch Project - it's a good little indie film, but it can't live up to its massive hype. It is amazing that Pi was made for $60,000, however.

If you liked Requiem, you'll probably like Pi. If you can ignore the plot and character shortcomings by focusing on the stylistic trappings, fast editing and weird lighting, you'll probably enjoy it. Great techno soundtrack!

Both PI and Requiem For a Dream are excellent. Buy both. Mind you they won't be appreciated by mainstream audiences. Nuff said.

yes.
Pi is nothing short of a visual masterpiece. Plot was secondary to me.
I was waiting with anticipation for months to see Requiem in the theater based on having seen Pi.

I had rented the movie on VHS a while ago, then I rented it on DVD and I just bought it the other day for $8.

I guess you can figure out I like the movie but I really liked the commentary since you get a great insight on the movie's production.

Cool DVD... I love drum n' bass music also so the music video tops it all off nicely.

The only thing I don't like is the fact that DVDTalk.com's search doesn't allow for two-character searches in the review database. So people ask about this movie too much! :)

pi is total crap with shoddy photography, bad directing, poor scoring, and a totally illogical script. steer clear. requiem is much better, but there are still plenty of problems with that one. STEER CLEAR OF PI!!!!!!!!!!!!
