I'll tell you this right now; forget waiting for Pearl Harbor, get TORA! TORA! TORA!.

I got the SE for my B'day and watched the battle scene and then again with the commentary. Who needs $100 million worth of special effects when the real story is right there. Excellent pic, good commentary. I loved it when he called P&S an abomination that should be banned.

Awesome, I watched it last night and it was better than I remember seeing it on TV like 5 years ago. Anyone who wants history and a great movie get this. Pearl HArbor the movie sucks compared to this one.

TORA! TORA! TORA!

Most people have been thrown the history of Pearl Harbor at them with the recent release of the movie Pearl Harbor. Tora! Tora! Tor! is the defientive version of the two, truth be told. While it is a boring epic film, it still holds that power and historical accuracy that most based-on-a-true-story films fail to bring.

MOVIE: 7/10
AUDIO: 6/10
VIDEO: 7/10
EXTRAS: 6/10

I really wanted to see this movie after watching Pearl Harbor in the theatres. I got the DVD and was not dissapointed.

The movie itself is good and I have no problems with the transfer or the sound. I actually like the flying sequences better than Pearl Harbor, just because it's real and not CGI.

The short documentary is pretty informative, but if you are expecting it to be about the movie you'll be dissapointed. The doc is about the historical events of Pearl Harbor and the commentary is about the movie and production. While the comentary is not one of the best I've heard, it certainly is not the worst either.

If you like a historically accurate movie this will not dissapoint. (The commentary discusses scenes that were real and documented but were left out because it would make the movie seem unbelievable.)

I bought mine at Costco a couple of months ago for $16.99

I saw this film when it first hit the theaters back in 1970. This film is one of the most historically accurate film made. Read the definitive Pearl Harbor history " At Dawn We Slept " by Gordon Prange. You'll find " Tora Tora Tora " follows it very very closely. Real history is much more interesting then any fictionalized history.

Tora! Tora! Tora! is a great movie. It does go into more details than "Pearl Harbor" did. I remember watching the movie many times on TV with my dad. I can't say the acting was great, I felt like I was watching a documentary.

Many people do say that Pearl Harbor was incorrect in it's details of history. The detail it really changed was that the 2 men who were able to get up in U.S. planes and shoot down several Jap planes also went on the Doolittle's raid of Japan. It got everything else correct.

See Tora! if you want a board view of the history of the bombing of PH.

See Pearl if you want to see a how the human side of the bombing of PH.

Can I get a second amen brothers and sisters!!?? I've thought that some of the Bay/Bruckenheimer projects were better than the critics gave them credit for but it added insult to injury that Pearl Harbor wasn't half the movie Tora!Tora!Tora! was and still managed to be almost twice as long.

I guess we can expect a nifty CGI Platoon next.
