I enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would and was surprised how good the special effects were.

I dont know how much repeat value it has though. Id suggest renting if you can.

I dont have a great system at home so cant comment too much on Sound/Picture quality but I had no complaints.

Nothing new here. I was hoping for more sci-fi stuff, but most of that doesn't come till the last half hour. And if you haven't figured out what the Russian spacecraft is carrying by then...well. It was pretty obvious in the first half hour. So there is no suspense, and not much originality either. As to the talent, well, most of it is wasted on the tired and obvious material. I don't think this did very well at the BO and it's pretty obvious why.

I thought it was watchable and moderately entertaining but ultimately fairly drab and not special. Combine "Armageddon" and "The Right Stuff" and make it with the "Grumpy Old Men" demographic in mind and you'll have "Space Cowboys". It's a derivative piece that never rises above its origins and becomes very compelling.

As for the DVD, it was quite solid in regard to both picture and sound. I thought neither was great, but they were consistently quite positive nonetheless. The extras weren't terrific, but they were also decent.
