I've heard the doc. is first-rate, and I've also heard that Ophuls was a favorite of Kubrick's.

Anyone out there spring for this yet?

Yes I did & it's worth it. The transfer looks like it was matted, but it comes across as widescreen. It's great, much better than my old video.
The translation is much better than what I expected & what's interesting is that on disk 1 there is a french overdub w/the english speaking subjects; but on disk 2 they
remain intact w/o the voice-over.
As for the film itself, if you haven't already guessed it's not an uplifting film. I'm sure that you can find reviews that will do it justice better than I can.
But, IMHO it's the film that they SHOULD be showing to kids about the Holocaust instead of absolute maudlin SH#T like Speilberg's List.
Besides, it's presented by Woody Allen.
A must.

I agree with everything "funkydjmcescher" says about "The Sorrow and the Pity", but couldn't disagree more with his quip about "Schindler's List".
