I rented this at blockbuster the other day. In terms of picture qualty and sound it was done pretty well. I thought in terms of Hong Kong discs this one looked a little sharper. The sound was done pretty good too. One thing that was nice is that it included English, and the original soundtrack (both 5.1 Dobly Digital I think). The dub is pretty bad...I could only watch it for five minutes before switching. I am not one of those purists who must watch their HK flicks Original Language with sub-titles. There are several pics in which I prefer the dub such as Legend of the Drunken Master, Legend, and alot of old skool flicks. The dub on this one was bad though.
Overall, I would say the quality is pretty good. I hven't seen the R0 release to compare to the R1 release, but I have an awful lot of HK dvds, and judging from those I would say this release is a little better. If you liked the movie its worth a purcahse. Personally I thought the movie was mediocre...I just skipped to the action scenes.
