i just won an auction on ubid.com for the kenwood hbt-503 for $169.. of course they have outrageous s&h, but its still a pretty sweet deal..

so this system comes with a brand new 500w kenwood vr 407 receiver dolby digital and dts.. 5 speakers and a 100w powered sub.. as I said, I picked it up for $169..

but as I look up through the receivers they are selling.. they have a refubished vr 407 that is currently at $181 and still has a couple hours left

am I missing something here? why would so many people pay more for a refurbished receiver, then the same receiver (except new), speakers, and powered sub?

Because they are dumb?

I wouldn't worry about it.

Since uBid is an auction, you will frequently see two (or more) auctions for the same item, and each one will have a different current price. The trick is to keep looking, and know exactly what you really want.

thats very true.. i watched this system for about a month.. always putting in the exact same bid, even though I could have won it earlier for just a little bit more money.. i was set on the fact that I was getting it for 169.99, and kept bidding each day (since its 1 day auctions) until I finally got it for the price i wanted.

now I see that the same system sold for 300+ on there yesterday.. and the receiver alone sold for 220+.. so it really does change from day to day.. and the best bet is to watch it for a couple days.. decide what your willing to pay.. and keep trying until you get it for that amount, because eventually you will.
