Please list here some good true 6.1 receivers (ones with an actual output for a rear center, not a receiver that uses a "phantom" rear for 6.1). Thanks!

You might want to put a price range you are looking in. If you don't care, the Denon AVR-5800 is the best there is.

Nosebleed 03-27-01 02:10 PM

Well, nothing too expensive, but nothing cheap either. I'm in Canada so something around $1000.

If you are going for broke (literally) the Denon AVR-5800 is the best out there. I just cannot see this baby becoming outdated.

I'm not sure about in Canada, but with a good deal you might be able to pick up the Denon AVR-3801 for that. The 3801 is by far the best in it's price category.

Well I could buy it and no go broke but that would end up costing me more than my 16x9 TV!

I check out a few stores tonight and research them on the net. So keep the suggestions coming please!

Yamaha makes one.. RX-V3000 or the RX-V1

http://navigation.helper.realnames.c...2&uid=30005897

The RX-v3000 is about $1500.00

The RX-V1000 has a rear preout.

Nosebleed 03-27-01 03:27 PM

What's a preout?

Someone correct me if I am wrong.....

But what it means is you will have to buy a seperate amplifier to power up the rear center speaker. You will not be able to directly hook up a speaker.

Yeah that's what I thought. I don't like the idea of having to buy another piece of equipment.

ANDREMIKE 03-27-01 03:58 PM

So what you think of the RX-V3000?

Nosebleed 03-27-01 04:35 PM

I like it, but at $2000 USD it's a little out of my price range!

I can say that I am extremely pleased with my Outlaw 1050.

All of the 6.1 DVD's I've tried in it sound amazing. Even something as simple as hearing the director yell "cut" etc. from the rear center of Toy Story 2 (outakes portion) adds just that extra bit of feeling that you are "in" the scene itself.

For $599 you really can't go wrong.
