I need a new DVD player with DTS and 5.1 processor that is a nice quaility and below $500.00...............or any ideas on how I can get a good region free dvd player with all of the above. My Panisonic A-100 from 1997 is almost dead.

Sony has a very nice dvd player that you might want to check out it is the sony 5-disc CD/DVD carousel Mfr. Model #: DVP-C660, multi-brand remote, precision drive system, SmoothScan/SmoothSlow modes, 50-disc custom parental control, enhanced listening modes. 96kHz, 24-bit DAC, 27MHz processing, Dolby digital and DTS digital output, 10-bit video DAC, bitmap GUI, cursor and enter keys on front panel, startup screen, screen saver, CD background graphics, video bit rate indicator, layer indicator, sound feedback, CD/DVD text , digital/coaxial/analog audio 2ch/composite/component/S-video outputs. It doesn't have the decoder built in but the next model up does I think it is the DVP-C670.

I have this same one in my home theater and love it. There is also a Denon that is a little better but I forgot the part number. I will reply tomorrow with the mfg's number.
