I have both connections available from my DVD player to A/V
receiver. Which one offer better audio? Thanks in advance.

It has been asked MANY times, but just to paraphrase the ongoing debate, most people will suggest coaxial because you can get a decent cable for a few dollars, while optical is more expensive and is relatively fragile. unless you have a very high-end system you probably wouldn't ever notice any difference in sound quality between the two (although there are some who claim to be able to distinguish the two). This debate is similar to the plain wire vs. monster cable debates.

Flip a coin - they are both about the same.

If it's a digital signal you either get it or not, right? I have a hard time believing there would be any chance of a bit error in either cable.

One thing I just read today, there is an article in the new Audio Review Magazine that is talking about this very subject. It states that despite popular belief, you should never use the poorer quality optical cable for 5.1 intentions. Always use the coax digital which was design for 5.1 usage. Just an interesting tidbit.

It is a digital signal. Bits are Bits. They are either passed or not passed. It makes me wonder when some people say they can hear a difference between two different cables passing a digital signal, but to each their own.

Putting technical details aside for a second, the coax connection just feels better when you plug it in. So there is no possibility in the world whatsoever that will lead anyone to the obviously incorrect conclusion that optical is better. Or is there?
