what the best video input mode to watch anamorphic dvds w/ a non progressive player? 480p or 960i? and which is best FOR a prog player?

I don't believe that your TV will display 480p without a progressive signal. your only option would be the TV's 960 mode.

oh, one more thing. you definitely want to use the 480p for progressive players. you want to take advantage of the "P" in 480P

I have the 55907 with a 5109 player. Cysco is right. You can use the component video inputs but only a progressive player will give you the p in 480p

thanks. The on board line doubler 960i leaves motion artifacts all over. It looks as if that "p" is a necessary purchase.

Word up, you definately need to get the progresive scan.

If you live on the west coast and have a Good Guys B&M near you, check them out, they should have a couple open boxed Progressive Scan Players. I just picked up the JVC P-scan/DVD audio player for 20% off. It's money well spent

Another question...everything but anamorphic DVDs and HDTV signals look horrible on this thing. Any suggestions why? VHS is unwatchable as is non 16X9 enhanced

Inferior line doubler. That why you need a progressive player and, potentially, an outboard line doubler for the other sources.
