I'm getting a lot of reflection off the screen of my 53" Hitachi Ultravision. Even with the room almost completely dark, if seems the screen will pick up and reflect the smallest light source.

Any tricks or ideas to minimize or eliminate??

I put lights behind my televison. This serves two purposes. One, it lights the room and two, it reduces eye fatigue you get from watching movies in complete darkness.

You can also try turning on the lights only when you need a snack. This helps reduce glare over them and often times gives the needed serenity. If you need more light, try picking up a few "Geradol" bulbs. They're great for reducing glare, yet still giving you enough light to see what you're doing.

"bias" light

I too would try the light behind the TV.

I was following a thread here about bias lighting and decided to try it. You may want to try a search.

It accomplished 3 things for me:
1 - eliminated glare
2 - reduced eye strain from lighting changes in scenes
3 - lights up the room

All I did was get a $10 (or was it $5?) "under the cabinet" 2 foot florescent. It came with a switch and cord even. Better yet, it worked.
