I just set-up my new Denon 2801, and love it, so far. I'm still in the tweaking and checking set-up stage. For instance, I went through a fustrating two hours surrounded by instruction manuals, before I figured out why my Dolby Ditigal DVD wasn't playing in DD, but rather PCM (btw, Anyone know what PCM stands for)-- I had the DVD player set-up wrong.

Any way, my Question: Why can't I get TV/Cable sound from the Denon. I have cable wired directly into my TV via traditional "cable-coax". And audio out through Audio-out jacks to the TV-in jacks on the denon. But when I switch the receiver and input to tv, no sound. It's probably something simple, but I'm boggled.

Any thoughts?

Try going into the menu of your TV and turning the speaker OFF, and use AUDIO OUT:Variable or something to that degree. This was my problem with my Trinitron at first. If all else fails, you can always run it thru your VCR and use a Video input on the Denon to watch TV.

Thanks. I should mention that before upgrading to a HT set-up , I had the audio running through my old Denon stereo receiver, using a similar set-up. so I don't think the TV settings are at fault.

Make sure the input mode for the Denon is on Auto. It could be looking for a Digital signal on your TV input. Other than that it must be a hookup or TV issue.

by the way,.....Pulse Code Modulation

I thought I posted this already, so sorry if it dupes.

Tried the above suggestions to no avail. The inputs on the Dennon are set right, as are the TV. connections look good and I used this setup with my old Denon Stereo, so I know its not the TV.

Any other ideas??
