The DVDRV30 looks great. It has 2 channels + Subwoofer out so I can connect it directly to a Subwoofer (this is important to me because I am going to connect it directly to my TV as I don't have a DTS Receiver. It has virtual surround sound too). The only question is - does it have a good optical output when I do buy the DTS Dolby digital Receiver later? I saw this description at Buy.com
Optical output for DTS®1 & Dolby Digital®2 Surround Sound
allows for amazing home theater sound quality
Is DTS1 and Dolby Digital 2 current versions or old versions?

The RV30 only has Optical out, no coax. I find the DTS sound to be amazing with my system.
I dont think that you'll be disapointed with this DVD player.

RV30
The Panasonic RV30 has an optical digital that will pass both Dolby Digital, DTS, and PCM bitstreams.
Just because something says Dolby Digital does not mean its 5.1. Dolby Digital comes in all flavours from 1.0 to 5.1.
That quote from Buy.com is most likely buy someone who doesn't know anything about DVD players...because the Dolby wording doesn't make sense.
