Does anyone know how or where I could get the information on forcing the anamorphic squeeze for a Toshiba 36A60. I had read it could be done from the remote but can't remember where <IMG SRC="frown.gif" border="0">

This Television is awesome for $850. Calibrated the SET via AVIA and now breaking in the set and will calibrate again after break-in.

I just found the instructions and tried this out on my Toshiba 27A40. I did see an improvement. I don't know if it was good enough for me to change it every time I watch an anamorphic movie.

It actually was really simple. I think I'm just lazy and a little afraid that I'll screw up some other setting in the service menu.

Some advice....make sure that you mark down all the settings before you make any changes....in case something goes wrong....then you can always go back to your original settings.

Hi. Can you (or anyone else) please post the instructions on how to get anamorphic squeeze on a Toshiba 27A40? I searched around the home theater forum for half an hour and couldn't find it.

Before you change any settings in setup write down all the initial values. If you don't, you may never get the tv back to the way it originally was.

1)Press Mute on the remote
2)Press and hold Mute on the remote (This should turn mute off since you just turned it on)
3)Press Menu on the television
4)Release mute on the remote control
5)Press Menu on the TV
6)An "S" should appear on the screen
7)Press the channel up on the remote until you find HIT
8)Write this value down and press volume up or down till you get the desired effect
9)You may have to play with a few other things in setup to get the desired effect so write down all the initial values and then find out what works best for you.

Here's the thread on HT Forum. You may also have to adjust the DPC setting which is explained. Mine looked fine as far as I could tell without touching the DPC setting.

You can also program a cheap One For All Cinema 7 or Radio Shack 15-1994 remote control to automatically access the service menu on the Toshiba. While you can't program an entire macro to adjust the settings it's nice to be able to pop in and out of service mode without having to use the buttons on the TV. Any more advanced remotes you use can then learn the function from these ones. I can't recall the proper advanced code off hand but the threads over a HTF might have the info.

Does anyone know how to perform this trick on a Hitachi 36" set? Sorry to get off topic, but I thought this would be a good place to ask such a question. Thanks for the help.
