My Dad is planning on getting a 32" JVC TV (sorry don't remember the model number). I was curious if new JVC TVs can do the squeeze or not. If so, I will have to start figuring out how to explain anamorphic DVDs to him.....He hasn't gotten a DVD player yet, but my guess is he will within 6 months after getting the TV....I've already begun trying to explain the value of OAR and widescreen movies. I think he "get's it", but still has a bit to go in accepting it. It will take more viewing when he gets his player I think......

I have a JVC AV-32D201 and it does the squeeze.
Here's how:
1. Press [SLEEP TIMER] on the remote.
2. When the SLEEP TIMER = 0 MIN, press [DISPLAY] and [VIDEO STATUS] at the same time. This step allows you to get into the Service Menu.
3. Select PICTURE submenu and mark down every setting. This allows you to change any setting back to the original when you screw up. *** VERY IMPORTANT...DO NOT SKIP ***
4. While in the PICTURE submenu, you adjust parameters: 41. VSIZE to 0 and 42. VSCR to 63.
5. Press [EXIT} to exit Service Menu.
6. Change DVD player to 16x9.
7. To reverse the squeeze, change parameters 41. and 42. back to their original settings.
Well, that's the squeeze for the JVC D-series TV. Not sure if it's applicable to other JVC models.

It worked on my JVC 36020 (last years model) although the menu numbers aren't the same.
I was tickled pink, got it for $550 at Sam's with gift cards. Now I can relax till HDTV prices come down (if ever )!

Cool. Do any JVC TVs do it with a remote control command as do the Sony Wegas???
If not, I don't think I could get my Dad to be making Service Menu changes.
Oh well.....
