I just bought a Kenwood VR407 with the S-video switching where you can input all your electronics by s-video. If i hook up my DVD player and dss satellite by s-video do i have to use the s-video out? My tv doesnt have s-video, just a/v inputs.

yes, i beleive your tv needs s-video. i could be wrong, but i dont think so.

s-video from your dvd/dss into your receiver. your receiver acts like a switch so you can run multiple s-video connections into the receiver and then 1 s-video connection into the tv.

with only a/v inputs on your tv, you are defeating the whole purpose of s-video. it will be just like running a/v cables from everywhere.

As far as I know, the S-video and RCA video are not connected inside the receiver. This has been the way with my Sonys, but other receivers may vary. And yes, connecting to you TV via RCA would defeat the whole purpose of the S-video.

You will not be able to use the s-video. You must connect everything using the composite outputs. You can get a s-video to composite converter but that would defeat the purpose.
