Well, I just replaced my Panasonic A320 with a new Sony S560 DVD player and I have to admit I prefer the Panasonic A320. There's a whirring noise coming from inside Sony when playing DVD's that is distracting. The search features on the Panasonic remote are better. The load tray on the Panasonic works faster and also boots DVD's quicker. The final measure will be longevity, while the Panasonic lasted a year, will have to wait and see on the Sony.

My Sony 550 - going on 2 years and it gets used A LOT! Between movies and a CD player (my wife is a stay at home mom, so the CD player gets used quite a bit)...

I have been very pleased with the Sony and will be sad the day it bites the dust...

I have the Sony DVP-S300 and feel the same way. I've had it for over two years and it gets a lot of use both as a DVD player and a CD player and is still going strong. I am not looking forward to replacing it. It does not have DTS output but that does not bother me. It does play CD-R's which I like. http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

i love my panasonic, better than my dad's sony and my old toshiba. it was cheaper, it's faster, quieter, the picture is great as is the sound.

I much prefer the Panasonic; I have both an A120 and a newer RV30. The 320's did have a few early bugs, but the 120 is rock-solid and I expect the RV30 to be also.

The best thing about the Panasonic is the SPEED. I have 2 friends who own Sonys, and they are noticeably more awkward when dealing with menus, etc., because of the extra delays when switching. (One friend who just got his kept messing up menu selections, double-pressing buttons, etc., because of the delays.) The Sonys (and most other players in my experience) are simply slow compared to the responsive Panasonic. The ff/fast reverse scans are also slick.

I'll double that, the Panasonic is much faster finding chapter scenes and ff/rev searches are also more responsive.
