My Panasonic PT56WXF95 16:9 set also weighs over 250 pounds. You should have seen my brother-in-law and myself carrying it DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS(!) to my home theater room in the finished lower level of my house. The guy still won't speak to me!

I am happy to see this
I have a 40" Mitsubishi Tube and it weighs close to 300 pounds and cost about $4000 when it was new. Since Mitsubishi discontinued tubes I was hoping a company would make another 40". The extra 4" makes a BIG difference and I can never go back to a 36" TV after having this one.

It's outrageous. My Proscan weighs close to 300 lbs, and even though I'm above average strong, I wear myself out every time I have to move it. Not a consumer friendly product.

I think 300-plus is more like it. I have to move my many times off U-haul and up stairs and down, talk about taking breaks every four steps.
Btw. what kind of stand do you have, I want to replace my but w/300-plus and 40" not to many stands out there can handle it
PS...Got 2 Love it when people say I got the same TV at home....Sure you do!!!

My 65" Toshiba HDTV is around 450 lbs. It took 2 delivery men, me, and my friend to lift it up the step to get it in the door. It moves easily on its' wheels, but I don't think I'll be lifting it again.

drewski,
It probably is over 300 pounds. It takes at least 2 people to move. I have moved mine 3 times and I hate it. I used to install keg systems for Bud so I had to lift kegs all day long and they don't compare to moving this TV. And what is with the cheezy plastic handles on the sides, like they wouldn't break right off
I use the original stand that came with it, that also weighs about 200 pounds. The original stand is a little low and I have looked at a few stands from Bell'O, Lovan and others that claim they can hold a 40" TV, but never bought one. They are in the $500 price range and I can't see paying $500+ for a stand when I have one.
I have thought of making my own with 1" thick oak or 1" thick plexiglass for shelves.
Like this but shorter and wider:
