Yeah I know this is a DVD forum, humor me http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

Anyone know if something like this exists?

I have around 250 CDs, all metal of course http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif, and I'd like to get a 300 disc changer to play them all in. I was looking at Sony's and they had one that lets you plug in a keyboard to name the CDs and the tracks.. No, I don't plan to sit there for 2 days doing that for every CD I own, and I kinda doubt other folks would want to either. I think what I'd rather see is a way to plug it into a PC.. maybe with a USB connection (so it could work on a Mac too) .. and what it'll do is connect to the PC and use the PCs internet connection (if active) to go to that online cddb thingy, and use that to name the tracks.

Think something like that would ever happen? http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

Such a product does exist. At $3,000 it's not cheap, but worth every cent. It changed the way I listen to music. Dig it: http://www.escient.com/tb100.htm

that's cool but a bit out of my price range http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

So I'd need to get the CD player AND that thing just to name tracks for me?

Hmm.. I think I'd rather just plug in a keyboard http://talk.dvdtalk.com/ubb/smile.gif

Bumping up because I'm looking for the same thing and maybe somebody has a new idea.
We have some 400+ cd's and I'd love to be able to load it up, plug it in to my pc, and let it download artists AND track names. Then I'd like to be able to search, using a keyboard, for songs or artists at the changer.
Help anyone?

After some extensive searching I find that Kenwood makes two models: the CD-425M and CD-4700M which, along with Kenwood software on a pc connected via serial cable, do this. The only weakness seems that it can't search by track/song title. I'd like just to be able to enter part of a song title and have it bring up a list to scroll through. Does anyone have any experience with these?

They do, at least come with a neat wireless keyboard which lets you search by artist, among other things. Documentation on their website is pretty slim.
