The TV arrived today! The only thing I noticed from unboxing it so far is that it was missing the screws for the TV stand. I haven't messed with it much other than turning it on to make sure it worked but from what I could tell it works fine and even the pictures that scroll through with no signal look absolutely stunning. I'll grab some screws from the hardware store later and really start messing around with it but for $1,347 I'm absolutely thrilled.

Damn, well done! That’s funny if that’s the only reason why it got returned. Hopefully the picture and technical stuff is brand new. I’d be thrilled as well if that’s all I find.

My friend recommended me check the hours since it was used. Only 13 hours and wasn't even registered, so I'm guessing I can still get the full warranty.

That's a fantastic price for the B9. I scored a 65 C9 for 1700 before the holidays. Those sets are amazing.

LG plans to introduce a 48" OLED in the next year and Panasonic plans to completely replace their LCD line with OLED by 2022.

You bought it from Amazon Warehouse, so I’m guessing the warranty would be automatic. But damn, that TV wasn’t really used at all. I’d register it and make sure everything is covered. LG will have the details on the serial # of the TV, so maybe you can ask them what they serviced it for.

I haven't been able to spend too much time on it, just a few hours with the PS4 and a couple movies. But I can see why so many people were raving about the black levels on these things. It's insane. Sometimes it's hard to tell if the TV is off or on when the screen is completely black.

Oh, and I also won a 55R625. Very impressive television in its own right!

I'm also looking. Currently have a Samsung 55" plasma that has developed some vertical lines in the last year or so (it's a 2011 model I think).

Ready to move to a 65". We do not watch sports or do any gaming; the most important factor is that moves and TV shows need to look like movies, not like they are being acted out in real time on closed-circuit in the next room.

Budget is $600-800. Thank you for recommendations!

^ all TVs will come with that weird video shit turned on, so you'll have to find the settings to turn it off right off the bat.

For 65" under $800, OLED is out of the question (although it'll be more in line with the quality of your current plasma)

Why So Blu?

I'm leaning heavily on that 65 inch Hisense TV. I would totally go for an OLED, but budget-wise I cannot swing that right now. At least with the Hisense -- it's a nice starter price and hopefully the OLED technology will go down in price as time goes on.

Absolutely.
The fact that it's a budget TV, but still gets a solid 8.0 rating from that site, makes it a pretty reliable purchase, in my opinion.

I’ve never been a OLED diehard fan, although I have played with an LG extensively and been able to see what it can do. But the still usual problems like burn-in (yes, it can still happen), and a really bad OS, I’m waiting for the 2020 models of everything before I get anything else.

TCL seems to have a extensive line of good products, including 8K (but who really needs that right now). More importantly, all 2020 models will have 2.1 HDMI, so that’s some good future-proofing.

Keep in mind, Hisense is discontinuing manufacturing OLED. Doesn’t give me a lot of confidence in the current stuff they have.

I think I might buy a new tv for my bedroom this year. I currently have a 9 year old 32 inch 720p Samsung LCD. Can I even tell the difference between 4k and 1080p on a 40 inch set? I will be using this tv for gaming and watching tv and movies.

You'll see a difference from 720p. And if you're going to be some gaming on it, make it look great and go for 4k. Most are good prices now. Of course it works best of you're using an XB1X or PS4.
