Programming my HK510 remote

I recently bought a HK510. It came with two remotes. I havent been able to program my main remote for anything but my receiver & wega. It just wont recognize any of the codes, it doesnt automatically find the codes either .. anyone been able to successfully program their HK510 remote? I have a Panasonic 5 disc DVD player, a Quasar HIFI 4 head VCR, a Sony 200 Disc CD changer, and a Denon tape deck. The codes in the back of the manual dont seem to work either .. help
