Is it a good idea to get the Sony BDP‑S3700?

I want to make sure I didn't f*cked up my purchase, because I kept hearing complaints about the flawed "Child Lock" feature.

Reviews make it sound like a good purchase. Why, have you experienced issues, like with the child lock feature?

I haven't got it yet, but most of the user reviews were negative, most of the negative reviews mentioned the "Child Lock" issue, and it seems that its unfix-able.

I own a similar (older) model, and it's been a great player so far. My only complaint is that it doesn't always load Shout/Scream Factory discs correctly -- apparently it's a common issue with Sony players that I haven't been able to resolve via firmware upgrades or any other means.

I've got one and it works like a charm. Plays anything I put in it. I too was on the fence about the child lock issue. Sony resolved this a long time ago with an update.
When you first hook it up, connect to the Wi-Fi. The player will automatically detect that updates are available during initial setup.. Do the update. Problem resolved.
The important thing is to update before you ever put a disc in.

I have three Sonys, all different models, and they play every Shout disc with no problem.

Just ordered mine last week and it came in today. Going to look at it pretty soon..

I mainly got it for the region free discs. Not interested in the wifi part.
At least not right now anyway.

Had an issue with mine. Lost power to the unit after a month of use.
Returned it for a refund. Should I buy another one or look for
Another model?

I have one since 2017 and never had any problems though maybe not there will be since I just jinxed it by saying that.

I had one before that which would eject the disc when I switched inputs on the TV and returned that.
The Netflix interface is so much better than the old 2010 Panasonic which now can only read dvds and not Blurays.
If you have a 4K TV get this instead though it costs around $179 at Amazon

I'll probably get this one. I hear it drops this month, at $299.

The Sony UBP-X700 might have the same stuff but at a lesser price.

The UBP-800M2 has a better a chipset or something and doesn't break the bank. It's only $299 when it streets.

Meant to post this, but the Amazon listing shows the 800M2 comes bundled with the UHD's of Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse, and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
