Hey, I bought my Sony DVD player over the summer, and I recently found my sales slip, and performance plan information.

Anyways, it says I get a "yearly" cleaning. I went into the shop, and asked about it, they said they basically send it to their "shop" clean it out(dust, dirt, etc) and lubricate all the moving parts. My question is, should I do this, this summer, when my plan hits one year? I have a 3 year plan, s I guess I get 3 cleanings.

What are your opinions.

if it ain't broke, then don't fix it. Most likely you have Sears or other maintenance agreement that fixes something if it breakes. I used to work for Sears and the "cleanings" that are actually done are like windex on the front. I wouldn't bother with the cleanings at all unless you know someone in the maintenance dept. and would definately take care of it for you.

No, I don't have Sears( I will NEVER buy AV equipment there again).
I bought it at Bryn Mawr(Tweeter/Outpost etc), and they specialize in mid to high end audio equipment.
So I'm really thinking that a cleaning might not be a real bad idea.
