I think I got my wires crossed flipping around on Rtngs. I currently have a 43" and was thinking of going bigger to 50". Ratings are better for the 50" 5 series. I'm still trying to decide if I really want to go 50". Even though the marks are much better for the 5 series, I would probably be okay with the 4 series. My distance to the tv won't change. I gotta look at this more before settling on which size.

Re: TCL Tv's

43” is the smallest for a 5 series. It would be miles better than a Fire TV.

I stand corrected. I had checked BB & did not see the 43" size listed.

I brought a the Tcl 49S405 a few years ago. It was a replacement for my Mom's 720p Panny. The TV sucked as far as 4K content. I can't tell the difference between 4K, 720p, or 1080p.I think your better off with the 5 Series. I was going to buy last years model but pissed they raised the prices. I still might just
wait for the 2021 models and see what they release.

Walmart had one listed as Series 5 but I thought they had misprinted it.

Had really seen much about the Fire TVs but glad to see an opinion.

Checkout rtings and CNET on both, and you’ll see why we’re advocating for TCL.

Re: TCL Tv's

Do the newer models have an issue with blinking screens?

I thought I fixed the problem but it still happens.

The 5 series will be like last years mini led 6 series. Or I might just buy the 2021 Hisense 65U8G model.
The 2020 TCL prices on the 5 & 6 series have gone through the roof on BB.com.

5 Series:
1. 75S535 - $1299.99
2. 65S535 - $899.99
3. 55S535 - $649.99
4. 50S535 - $599.99

6 Series:
1. 75R635 - $1799.99
2. 65R635 - $1299.99
3. 55R635 - $949.99

I've been watching this model. Amazon has it for $499, at least for right now. I'm thinking of nabbing it before it matches BB.

Not sure why these prices have risen so much on these models. But for me that's way to much for what the 50" use to cost. I was looking at the 65" model but the price has
increased by $250. I also notice lists these as 2021 models.

Re: TCL Tv's

I guess the new TCLs available today have Google TV instead of Roku (though they say they are not abandoning Roku... yet):

Re: TCL Tv's

They won't abandon Roku, but it's a good move to add Google as an option. Also cool is that the Google enabled TV's also include HDR10+.

What the hell is TCL smoking. Have you seen the prices on their new Google TV's & their old Roku models. Sorry Tcl you lost a customer. I will jump on a Sony X90J before I buy one of your over priced TV's.

Re: TCL Tv's

Yeah, as much as I check their new stuff, my last 6 Series is probably the last TCL I’m getting due to their price increases.

Re: TCL Tv's

The Series 6 Google OS versions have HDMI 2.1 (2 I believe), 120Hz, VRR whereas the Roku OS does not. Series 5 also does not have any of this.
So weird.

True, been reading a lot of negative reviews about the Google OS on the 2021 models. The current sale prices have come down a bit. But still not as low as they use to be. I guess
we will never get down to those levels ever again.

Re: TCL Tv's

I see Walmart will be having a 55" TCL on sale for $228 on November 3rd - 7th. They list it as model 55S21 so presume it may be a special model exclusive to Walmart perhaps. Does anyone have an opinion on this model?

I firmly believe we will see those prices again, but I have no idea when. Supply chain is still greatly jacked up. Probably stabilize in the next 3-5 years - provided nothing else messes with it.

It’s a Series 4 model. Here are the TCL specs for it. TCL alters and gives chain stores like Wal-Mart and Costco their own model numbers, but they’re mostly just a digit or letter off from the regular model names.

Looks like TCL is coming out with a new 4 series. The model # is S446. They come in sizes '43-85'. Best Buy as them on their site but all just say coming soon.
