Pro Audio Gear for Home Theater

I recently added a couple QSC SR-8101 surround speakers to my HT setup, replacing my old Mirage surrounds in a 5.1 configuration. I'm very pleased with these speakers, so I'm adding two more for 7.1. I'm slowly replacing my present sound system, and plan to do so with all pro gear. I'm considering the Crown XLS 1002 power amplifier for the rear surrounds because of its power for the price and the ability to set input sensitivity and pass filters.
Is anyone using pro amps, and have any thoughts or advice?

I guess it would depend on room size and power requirements for the rear speakers.

Personally for a home theater it sounds like overkill to me.
