Re: What's the final word on 4K HDMI cables? Necessary or hogwash?

I'm tempted to buy some cables but I just don't see how much better my picture can get - it looks amazing as it is using standard, old HDMI cables - I know I'm watching 4k and not 1080 as well - I also know the HDR looks great because if it didn't, as well all know - the picture would look like trash.

So, should I just shut up and buy the 4k cables or is it a waste - I'm also asking because of how some of your are questioning each other in this thread.

Well, said the hell with it and bought a bunch of "premium" 4k cables - there is a actually some improvement and I would say its worth it but at the same time, if you dont have the cash to go out an buy a bunch, it's not like your missing out on much - your standard HDMI cables will still provide damn near just as good a picture.

"Premium" cables are the biggest wastes of money there is. Don't overspend for that bullshit ever.

You can get them dirt cheap online and in some stores, I only bought A bunch because I needed extra anyway.

"premium" cables (Monster, etc.) are totally a scam, yes, but "4K" rated cables are... not exactly that. As I understand it, they're rated to the higher speed (thus, more data running through the cable) to comfortably push all that data fast enough. Cables that aren't "4K" ready may still work, but they just haven't been tested and validated for it specifically.

After testing this out for a little over a month or so - there is no significant difference - just use your standard HDMI cables.
