Troubleshooting HDMI issues

Last week, my PS4 stopped outputting HDMI corrrctly, so I assumed that it was related to problems associated with the PS4 port, which has been known to happen.

The TV I'm using has one port, so I'm using a switcher. Tried using different cables, and directly connecting rather than routing through the switcher, no change. Also tried unplugging the TV for half an hour.

But now, I'm trying the Roku, and I'm getting that purple screen whenever I select media (but with sound).

Similarly, with my cable, I can see the guide just fine, but when I select a channel, it's al black (but with sound comic through fine).

However, the Wii U works perfectly well with no issues. So would this be a problem with the TV's port, specific cables, or a combination of shit?

the only constant in your various combos appears to be the original input on the TV itself...

I was afraid of that. But then why does it display Wii U stuff without issue?

Sounds like you have done your due diligence and narrowed it down to the port on the TV as being problematic. Only other thing I would try, if possible is hooking up to a different TV, since yours only has one port, with a single source and single HDMI (IE hook your roku up to another tv without a splitter) to verify that is working properly.

Curious, as I have seen some issues with ports on the tv as well, is the port one where the cable sticks out horizontally or one where it gets inserted vertically? All the problems I have seen have been cables that go in to the back of the TV horizontally.
