I've gone through the descriptions on Yamaha's website, but I can't find the difference. Maybe I'm missing it. Anyone know what it is?

Thanks,

Brian

The 795A includes DTS in addition to DD.

Both are now discontinued and replaced with
the model 800.

According to the website, they both have built-in DTS:

http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi...VR00010RX-V795

http://www.yamaha.com/cgi-win/webcgi...R00010RX-V795A

I'm asking because it's one of the last few DTS receivers Amazon has in stock that I'm interested in (HK AVR500 and Denon 2801 being the others that are out of stock). I probably won't get it anyway, since they are asking $799 for it still (MSRP is $699. Weird).

I want to go through Amazon because I have over $300 in GC.

I have the 795A. It adds an S-Video connection so you can run your DVD player through the receiver out to the TV. The receiver has an on screen menu which makes setup much easier.

Hmmm, the late-model 795s must have had DTS snuck
in, before the re-badging to the "795A" (note
the asterisk on the 795 page at yamaha.com:
"BUILT-IN DTS*").

In any event, of the two, the model to get is
the later 795A, which is no longer made
(replaced by the 800), and should therefore
be discounted subtantially.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the info. Amazon actually finally restocked the HK AVR500, so I ordered that one instead.

Does anyone know why Amazon only stocks the discontinued models of these brands (Yamaha, Denon, Harmon Kardon)?
