i'm thinking about kicking the old "take 5" into the bedroom and getting some adult sized speakers. It looks like the most likely setup will be all Acoustic Research Hi-Res series as I found a great price on the mains (AR-11) and figured I should voice-match the rest (AR-4C center and AR-15 surrounds).

Any input on this system is appreciated. I'm looking at around $830 shipped.

The same place has the ARS112PS 12" powered sub for $199 + $40 shipping and i'm considering getting it as well, but i somehow doubt the importance of voicematching a sub and am wondering 1) if i really need a sub at all as my mains go pretty low and 2) if there is another make with a little better bang/buck. I suspect I'll wait either way until i've heard the set up with my receiver (Pioneer) and figure out how low i need to go.

Thanks all!

My opinion is that this system really isn't worth the extra money unless you are set on getting another system. The mains are really the only improvement over the energy speakers. The AR-11s are good but are not a huge improvement over the Energy speakers. The only thing you would be gaining from them is some extra bass. As for the sub I would stay away from the ARS112PS. If you want to stay with AR then check out the ARS300 and ARS500. These subs really pound and are a good value for their price. I own the ARS500 and am still amazed at how hard and tight the bass is.
