I just bought a Pioneer DV-333 player, and am very happy with it. All except for when the movie is about to play, or I am switching through all the "extras" on a disc, the speakers make a loud "pop". I think that this happens when the DD signal is coming off and on, because when I changed that signal to PCM in the settings, the popping dissapeared. Now of course I do not want to get rid of DD, I want to keep it. I also, however, would like to get rid of the popping noise. Can some one come up with a solution?

I am using a Sherwood RVD-6095R receiver, with optical connections for the digital source

I had the same problem with the "popping" noise with my Zenith DVD player. It was a cheap one that I got from Value America last year. It would not make the popping noise all the time and I could never figure out when it would happen. It was so loud that I thought it would damage my speakers so I finally got a new DVD player. I bought the Toshiba SD1600 from Amazon using the $150 GC from MCI and the $50 off $200 coupon.

I'm glad to say that the "popping" sound has stopped.

Did you think about returning your DVD player for another one? IMO, since you have a relatively new DVD player, I don't think it should make that noise.

I had the same kind of problem with my JVC 501 whenever I would fast forward or reverse. It would make a really load popping noise. When I wanted to FF or Rev. I would have to first press mute, move to the point I wanted and then turn the sound back on. What a pain. Well one day the POS died and I was forced to buy a new one. I bought a Sony 560 it had a better picture and better sound. A plus was when I did a FF it didn't make a peep. My wife said "What happen to that stupid noise?" I said that's right I didn't even miss it. But I will tell you that I was conditioned to think all DVD players did this until I saw the light.

I have noticed that this may be the fault of the disc, too. My T2:UE is the only disc I own that makes this popping noise, at every menu change.

Yes, very strange that this player does this for me, especially after all the great reviews. Just like DigIt, it mainly happens in menu changes, and when the movie is starting. Anyone with this player have the same problem?? My samsung player did not do this, although it had other problems as well.
