Hello,

I have my TV on a metal office desk, can I put the sub under the desk if I pull the sub out so its flush with the front of the desk? The area under the desk is 4 ft wide by 3 ft high by 3 ft deep. Will it sound too boomy under there? I don't have it yet, I'm just trying to think of a few good spots to try it at. The subwoofer is a 50 watt ground firing powered
sub. Thanks,

jay

No. With the dimensions you gave there would be no room for your feet.

And it won't get any "sun".

I wish that spell checker would check the title too, not just the body.

Just don't count on spell checkers too much. There's not many of them in regular life.

wow, 4 responses and no answer...

i don't think the "boominess" would be a problem any more there than it would be anywhere in a room. however, it is nice to give a sub room to "breathe" (i.e. let the sound reflect...)

2 concerns that leap to mind. vibration of your tv and magnetic shielding.

1. doesn't sound like you have a RPTV so the vibration shouldn't affect picture quality though it may affect the life-span of the TV.

2. generally, a sub has a fairly large magnet on the driver. make sure that badboy is shielded lest you damage your tv. granted, a big metal desk may provide adequate shielding but i wouldn't take my chances.

my solution: put it in the corner of the room a few feet from either wall. buy one of those silky small tablecloth thingys to put on top of it so it looks like a small table. place a few non-rattling decorations on top and make people wonder where in the hell all that bass is coming from.
