I'm always shopping for new sound and I saw these babies over from Audiogon and they look beautiful. I love the Von's but they're too hard to find matching systems for. The new ones are a little out of my league and the olds are rare.

This is the flagship model 6.1, freq resp 27-20,000 20-200 watt powering. Any one had any time with these? Or any of it's little brother's? 2.1,3.1 etc.?

They look suspiciously like the B&W 800 series.

Those are the flagships and they retail for about $1500 (possibly less but I'm not sure). As far as I know the B&W models that closely resembled these start at about $2000 and quickly climb too high for oxygen. These puppies start at about $450 a pair for the bookshelves (same tweeter design). I just love the cabinetry on these things, almost worth dropping my system to give a try.

Remember guys that these speakers could get seriously UGLY if they don't sound that good! I've seen to many "Nice Looking Speakers" that ended up sounding like garbage that I don't get to excited about their looks anymore.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting that they sound anything like the B&W 800 series, merely that they look like a (AHEM)ripoff(/AHEM) of their basic design. I've never heard them, so I can't comment on the sound.

If you're looking at bookshelves in that price range, go check out the B&W 601 S2's. They look good, and at least I can suggest them as sounding excellent.

I'm going to have to agree with Dominus on this one. Go with the B&W's, the entire 600 S2 series has encorporated the nautilus tweeter. I have had experience with the 603 S2 and they were incredible, but I can't seem to recall what I paid for them. I would always have to recomend any B&W line.

I'm not actually looking to upgrade right now, I just like the cabinetry. I would never buy a speaker like this without demoing it first. As far as being ripoffs goes I agree to an extent, but the Nautilus tweeter is less open and more solidly mounted than these appear. Sharing a design philosophy isn't really stealing a design, or else whoever made the first speaker box would be rolling around in money over royalties. Hell, a lot of people think VonSchweikert stole his designs from Vandersteen. These Diva's appear similar but who knows what's going on inside the cabinet. A seperate tweeter like that was also utilized by VonSchweikert on his LCR-31 center channel speaker, there's a lot of merit to having a seperate housing for the tweeter. Easier to mass load the drivers, control the dispersion and time allignment, and all that stuff. It's just a good idea.
