LG 55UF8600 TV with dvd-r drop outs thru blu-ray player

I can play a blu-ray start to finish without any problems but a dvd-r gives me a dropout about every 15 minutes. I have a lot of dvd-r's of old projects and review copies so this is becoming a big issue. The player is hooked up through a splitter but that hasn't given me this problem in the last 2+ years. Any ideas?

You can bypass the splitter (ie: remove it) to rule it out as a problem. Aside from that, sounds like a player issue, not a connectivity issue.

Why would lack of a composite output surprise you? You are in the minority of people still using a comp connection.
