A long while back you posted a review of your new amp giving it your approval.

Like you, I have a Sony DB-930. It is running all NHT SuperOnes with a separate monoblock amp pushing two MTX 12 inch subs. It sounds fantastic in surround mode, but in two channel something is lacking, like the speakers are underpowered.

I like to play music around the house when I am home, but since being introduce to the world of tonality, ambience, depth, imaging, and overall good quality I have been unhappy with the DB-930's two channel mode.

My question to you is if two channel media (recordings, etc) improved when you went to the external amplifier? Would you still go with the HK PA-5800 yourself if you were in my shoes?

Thanks,

-Brett

It's not bad, but, you might want to look at something like monoblocks or 2 channel amps. It's been a while since I've used my HK amp (maybe I'll do some re-wiring and listening to the amp again this weekend and report back to you). My main use was for powering subs at the time. You'll get a little more cleaner power with the HK and channel separation.
