I am considering purchasing the Toshiba SD-4205 (5 DVD/CD Changer). I went down to Sound Advice yesterday and tested it with an 80-Minute CD-R and it worked great (my Toshiba SD-3108 always had problems with 80-Min CD-Rs). I didn't have a VCD on me at the time but noticed that it was advertised to be able to play VCDs (Video CDs).
Has anyone that has the player tried playing a VCD (preferably a PC burned VCD/CDR)? I don't have too many VCDs but I would like to know if this player will play them, especially the ones I make on my computer. Thanks for any help you may provide. |
Okay so I answered my own question.
For anyone looking to buy the Toshiba SD-4205 (5 DVD/CD Changer)... YES, it can play PC Burned VCDs. I already own the Toshiba SD-3108 and the Pioneer DV-525. Both played 74 Minute CD-R Discs just fine but neither one would play 80 Minute CD-R Discs. The Pioneer would play VCDs but the Toshiba 3108 would not. I ran the SD-4205 through the ringer before buying. I tested it with an 80 Minute CD-R I burned as well as a VCD I created and it came through shining. The Toshiba SD-4205 is everything I was looking for. It plays DVD, CD, HDCD, CD-R and VCD Discs and includes a DD 5.1 and DTS Decoder. If you are looking for a replacement for your CD Changer I think someone finally got it right! |
