Ask in the Home Theater Gear forum too.

Right now nothing comes to mind.

I don't think this is doable without placing the receiver in the same room as the speakers. Ethernet only has 8 (thin) wires, and you would need 12 even if you could connect the wires through a cable.

There's this thing that can allow HDMI to be transmitted over ethernet, but again it would require the receiver to be in the same room as the speakers: http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-...S3EDP1XY024CF0

Re: Can you run audio cables over ethernet?

Why isn't the receiver in the same room as the speakers?

Ethernet cable isn't a big enough gauge to run a powered audio signal through. So you'd need at least an amp in the room with the speakers. Ethernet is also only 4 pairs, so you'd at most be able to send 4 audio signals through the cable directly.

These devices send audio signals (up to 4) over Cat5 (typically what ethernet cable is).

If the existing ethernet cable runs directly between the two rooms, you could do something like tie the speaker cables and a new ethernet cable to the existing one, the pull the existing one through the wall, dragging the new cables with it. This wouldn't drill any new holes, but it may be a tight fit and you'd probably be best to get approval from your landlord first.

Looks like I may be SOL for the time being.
Does your receiver support two 5.1 zones? I know supports one 5.1 zone and one stereo zone. Didnt know they even made dual 5.1 zone receivers.

There's only one. And it isn't a receiver any more, now it's separate preamp and amp. Denon's flagship.
