connecting hdtv to stereo
 

I'm looking to connect my hdtv to my stereo. I'm not very familiar with audio setups. I just want stereo sound from my hdtv. I've attached links to a diagram of the back of the tv and the stereo. What is the easiest way to do this? Do I need a converter and if so which one would be good? Thanks!

You need to run from the optical out on the TV to the Aux in on the stereo. You'll need a converter to do it. Like this:

No problem. You'll have to set audio to stereo, probably. In the TV or sources.
