should i get new speakers?

my current surround set up is all mix and match. sony dual 8" tower fronts ($400 a pair though i got them open box for $200 about 9 yrs ago), $80 pioneer center channel, $50 each cerwin vega bookshelfs for the surround. my sub is good (BIC 12") so i dont need to replace it.

ive always wondered if i could get better for less and smaller. i was thinking about those mirage or energy satellite sets you see for $250-$350.

obviously you havent heard my stereo but what would you do in my case? i dont really want to go above $350. any suggestions? im open to other brands (but they must be small speakers), i just remember those 2 off the top of my head. or should i just stick with what i have.

my living room is around 15x20.

$350 per speaker...or $350 for all 5 speakers?

My first thought for great small speakers were the Sat 3's from Goldenear. Best small speakers I've heard in a long time, but they are $250 each.

yea thats too much. im pretty much happy with my sound so this would be mostly for looks. but i want them to sound at least as good as what i have. i always hear that mismatched speakers arent the way to go and what i have now isnt anything special. just stuff i picked up for cheap here and there when i could.

You list the price of your speakers (which means nothing) when you should be listing the model numbers. If you are happy with how they sound but just want to buy new so they are all the same brand and look better than what you have I say go for it.
Having all speakers the same brand is supposed to sound better than mixing and matching, but I cant say if thats true or not.

i wasnt near my speakers. the price was just to show that they are pretty much low end speakers. anyways i think ive decided to just keep them. i doubt satellites will compare to my towers.

You should have at the very least the three front speakers "match". They don't have to be the same three speakers of course, but from the same brand and line.

And yes, small speakers can sound as good as or better than larger speakers. Especially in a surround set up where a seperate sub is doing the heavy lifting on bass.

Check out offerings from the usual list of suspects, KEF, B&W, Mirage, SVS, NHT, Polk, Energy, Klipsch,
