What's a good bookshelf stereo & brand?

I'm looking to buy a home/bedroom stereo in the $200 range.
I'm looking at Sony. However, I would like to get opinions on which brands are really good. For example, I don't really care for Sharp or Sanyo from previous experience. Their features aren't up to par with the big boys.
Also, if anyone knows of a particular model that they've researched or bought, please let me know.
