Bosepro. I have done these test in a double blind professional setting. Bose has always done very well against similar product (ie: single full range units). But against similar price product it has always done poor.

Once again it is very well engineered product that works quite well. It just cost more than the competition. If I was Bose I would do the same - wouldn't you?

There is a reason the are the number one speaker company in America.

Too many suckers in America, that's why Bose is #1.
If it's expensive, it must be good, or so they think!

I was also a Bose owner up to about a year ago, I had the AM10's. Now I have all Boston Acoustics, the sound difference is phenominal. Boston puts Bose to shame in every way and at almost 35% less. The main things noticed is that Bose had all the high and low tones but no mid tones which were made up by the Boston's. By the way this system is run with a Denon 1801.

Don't forget that Bose currently makes killer stock sound systems in everything from Nissans to Mercedes Benzes. And those sound systems blow all other stock units out of the water (short of a Lexus Nakamichi system).

I think the most sound advice given (after digging through all of the flames) is to go out and listen to as many systems as you can and determine yourself what you think is the best sounding system to put in your living room.

What does that have to do with the price of bread in Mexico?.A stock car stereo and hometheater are two VERY different things. How mant square feet in a car vs the average hometheater room.

I am in line to purchase a 5.1 Home Theater Setup and I have spoke with to co-workers who own Bose and both love them. I have no heard a demo yet but I was wondering how owners of the Bose Acoustimass 15's felt about their performance. Now I've seen on some sites that people love to bash Bose foe some reason, but I would like honest opinions. I will be using them primarily for DVD's with some CD playing. Thanks for any imput.

I couldn't agree more! I was a "sucker" when I first got into ht and purchased some bose speakers...three months later I sold them to some poor sap at work. IMHO, there are alot better speakers for the money if you look around.

I owned a Bose Accoustimass for about one hour. (Must be some kind of record.)

Some 3 years ago, I decided to buy one after hearing some of the hype.
Went to BestBuy. (Purchsed it for around $700) Installed it and ....
The sound was like coming from cheap cardboard speakers compared to my $300 Tower JBLs. I could not believe it.
Neddless to say, I re-packed them and returned them as soon as I could.

Since then I have upgraded to audiophile quality speakers from Jamo.

The best advice given is to go and listen for yourself. Only you can decide what sounds good to your ears. That being said, why doesn't Bose list the frequency response of their speakers? I was flipping though a Crutchfield catalog looking for some stuff for my car, when I saw the Bose speaker selection. For laughs I was comparing them to some other speakers in that price range...and damn if there weren't any specs on them. Are they afraid to list them, seeing as how their numbers don't stand a chance agains similarly priced products? I know many manufacturers fudge their numbers a bit (as far as frequency response, and to what actual volume you can hear these frequencies at, etc) but to not even list them at all...seems odd.
