It's time to change the bulb in my Sony front projector
It's been 3,000 hours and my Sony projector is telling me it's time to change the bulb. I ordered a new bulb, but I figured I'd get a few more hours out of my current bulb before replacing the new one. It's now been two weeks. Can I do any damage by squeezing every last minute out of the bulb? If I watch it until failure will I cause any damage?

I don't know about front projectors, but the bulbs in rear projectors can explode when they fail. Everything is supposed to be contained by the bulb's housing, but I don't like the idea of the bulb failing when it's inside the set (I have a Sony SXRD rear projector).
I replaced the bulb about two months ago. I kept the old bulb as a backup just in case the new one fails prematurely. This way I don't have to worry about the old bulb failing at an inopportune time, like when I have people over watching a movie.
