I just bought a subwoofer without really thinking everything through. It was an especially good deal, and I just couldn't pass it up. So now I need to know what I can hook it up to. It is a Yamaha YST-MSB5B. I will be hooking it up to my computer somehow, or a Sony Micro-shelf stereo system. So what can you hook Subwoofers into, and what kinds of input/output do you need. Thanks.

Most subwoofers allow you to connect them in-line with the speakers. Simply connect the sub to the receiver's L and R speaker outputs, and then connect the R and L speakers to the sub. A diagram:
L speaker-----Sub=====Receiver R speaker-----| Some receivers and computers also have an RCA terminal marked "Subwoofer Output", which is a line-level output that connects to the sub using a single interconnect. This is generally accepted as the better and easier way to connect a sub. If you don't have this, until you upgrade your receiver/computer, the speaker method above will do nicely.
