Panasonic TV image speed up
I recently bought a Panasonic Viera 42" plasma TV, model TC-42ST30, and I noticed there appears to be a slight speed up with the image. I noticed this when I was playing a game on my PS3 as well as when I was testing a Blu-ray movie (the PS3 is connected via HDMI). I also noticed it when watching live TV, but it didn't appear as noticeable as when watching the Blu-ray. Has anyone else run into something like this? Is there a setting I can adjust that would take care of this?

How can the image be faster than the source that's supplying it?
Or is it inconsistent speed, i.e. does it sometimes lag, and then speed up?

Inconsistent would be it. The image doesn't lag, it goes from normal to slightly sped up, back to normal, than speeds up. I only noticed it a couple times when I was playing my game, (I played for about 2 hrs), but it was more noticeable when I was watching live TV. I only watched live TV for about 10 minutes, then watched this past sunday's Robot Chicken, where I did not notice the speed up. Weird.

I'm guessing it's probably motion interpolation. I don't know what the setting is on Panasonic TVs, but it's probably "motion smoother" or something like that. Try turning it off.

After looking at the wikipedia entry for motion interpolation, I think that's it. The "Soap Opera Effect" the entry describes sounds just like what I'm experiencing.
