I have a Mitsubishi 65807 HD ready, 16x9 television. What advantages/disadvantages are there to using the 480p/960i settings on the tv? More importantly what exactly do the settings do, I belive that they both are line doubling settings but there isn't any documentation that clarifies these settings. Please help..

480p is a progressive image (generally best for film sources) which paints all of the TV's 480 scan lines in one pass. 960i is an interlaced image (generally best for video or broadcast images) which paints the scan lines in two passes: the first for the odd 480 lines, the second for the even. Thus in any interlaced mode the TV paints the image twice.
On my TV and w/ most sources there is little diference between 480p and 1060i. |
